Job Opening: Mid - Senior Unity Game Programmer

We seek an awesome coder-collaborator for great justice.

Basis: remote, 4 days Mon-Thurs. Core team @ UTC+10/11.
Salary: USD $35-60k / AUD $50-80k with long-term possibility for profit share.

TopplePOP is a co-op / competitive puzzle-battle game inspired by PuyoPuyo and Tetris but with physics and teamplay; designed for simple family-friendly fun, but with extreme depth for world-class competition. We plan to support online multiplayer and cultivate a global community of casual and hardcore fans. Does this sound like your jam? Things you will do:

  • Make games. Play games. Make one particular game at a time and play it, a lot.

  • Talk about games and what makes them good. Talk about making games and how to do it better as a team.

  • Play bad games. Complain about them in detail and make them better.

  • Make awesome games slowly.

    ( “iterate, refactor and optimize prototypes into shippable games that perform well and pass platform certification” )

  • Ship games. Launch games. Launch shipped games.

  • Devise better ways to make things, together.

    ( “share knowledge. check assumptions. research, articulate and discuss plans before implementation” )

  • Maybe sometimes collaborate with artists & designers to make things that help us make games.

  • Be a little bit boring at times, but vitally important.

Things you need:

  • High proficiency using C# in Unity for game development

    ( coding is your jam )

  • Ability to rationalize and break down complex problems into discreet elements

    ( you like solving puzzles )

  • A logical approach to problem solving. Test assumptions, research solutions.

    ( you dislike ‘guessing games’ )

  • Strong communication & remote work skills

    ( we use text, voice chat and screen-sharing to make plans, playtest and solve problems together )

  • Confidence using version control systems

    ( we use git )

  • A solid practical understanding of game design concepts 

  • To have worked on at least one released game
